Product Design Team Lead, Homestead, Inc.
Homestead provides easy-to-use software for designing and hosting web sites for individuals, clubs, organizations and small businesses. I lead design work for one of Homestead's most important projects during the spring of 2001, the transition to a fee-based subscription service. I worked intensively on designing, user testing, and improving Homestead's signup and credit card registration processes. In the spring of 2002, I coordinated a gound-up redesign of Homestead's online services and worked on various projects to help members organize and build their web sites. We work regularly with product management and marketing to test and improve our subscription processes other features related to acquiring new users.
I assumed basic management responsibilities for the Product Design team for several months during the Fall of 2002. During that time I coordinated the day-to-date activities of the Product Design Team with Product Management and the executive team. During the Fall of 2002 I also began design work on Homestead's newest software, PhotoSite. PhotoSite allows user to manage their digital photos and share them online in customized albums. I led design on PhotoSite from the earliest planning meetings with Homestead's CEO through the product launch in October, 2003. Designing new software from scratch was an awesome opportunity to brainstorm new ideas for features and interfaces, as well as a challenge while integrating the feature set into an intuitive user interface.
