Summer Starts
Getting summer off to a rolling start by looking for a new apartment. Seems like I've done that around this time each of the last 2 or 3 years. So here's a want ad: I want a nice 1 bedroom apt, lots of light and ample parking, for about $50. Wait, things are getting better for renters here in the Bay Area, but not that good.
I went to see Dave Matthews two nights ago at Shoreline in Mountain View, CA. The concert was at least as good as they were 4 years ago (last time I went). So many good memories. If I get a place of my own I'll be able to listen to my stereo any time I want - another plus on that side. I'll be too broke to buy CDs though (that's a minus).
Speaking of CDs, the new Moby album is unbelievably bad. Take it from a disturbed owner, do not buy this new CD. I love Moby and all, but this one just didn't come together.

Two Months Later
I'm still happy every morning when I am able to pull a shirt on over my head without worrying about tearing my arm off. I am apparently "healed" and ready to start using my arms as intended, but its clearly going to be a long road to full recovery. Things are getting back to normal, however.
The weather out here has been incredible for the last few weeks. I have been to the beach 6 out of the last 8 consecutive weekends enjoying the sun and relatively warm weather. Lots of new pictures in my photos section, especially beach pictures!
I'm headed to Las Vegas this weekend on a company retreat and then to Ana Maria Island the following weekend to visit family. Finally going to get a little R&R! I'm up $12.50 for my lifetime gambling winnings, so I'm hoping to get that up to at least $15.

Less Broken
Despite my earlier feelings that things were not progressing with my recovery, the good doctor told me to stop wearing a sling this past Monday morning. Its been pretty sore since then, but what a transformation:
I can now wear non-flannel, non-button down shirts!
I have been learning to rely on other people a lot more for things like rides, food, and entertainment due to my inability to drive. I think its been good. I went to Tahoe this past weekend and didn't really mind not skiing. I am definitely looking foward to doing some traveling, though.
Oh yeah, check this out:

Broken
I managed to break my collarbone (not a pleasant sound) while skiing on Dec 1. So far its been 4 weeks and there really hasn't been any improvement. I can't ski, drive, work out, or do anything, really. Not that I'm depressed. It seems that Man can send people into outer space, but setting a clavicle is out of reach. So I'll just keep typing with one hand until the stupid thing either heals (see you in March) or falls off. Note the irony of the paragraph below...

Employed
Turns out that I am still employed. This was great news for my bank account, health insurance, and other things bound to my pay check. Now I'll be able to ski this winter and buy food (*see above).

Moving In
I finally unpacked some more of my room & house this past weekend. Amazingly it has only taken me three months to find time or motivation to unpack many of the boxes that have sat ignored above the stairs. I already felt like I had moved in - my computer, bed & clothes were all in their designated places so everything else was bonus round. Anyway, I have shelved all my books and generally added to the clutter of my room... a step forward, I'm sure.
I've also moved a lot more photos online here at pkingdesign.com. Several sets of pictures from various hiking trips and a few visits from friends. I think it might be time to start investigating the portfolio section of my site...
